About Julie Farrington, M.D.

Psychiatry is a general psychiatry practice in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Dr. Farrington is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry
and Neurology and has specialized in treating anxiety disorders
and eating disorders, though enjoys treating all diagnoses. She
has over 15 years expertise with difficult and complex cases,
with clinical experience in institutional and private practice
settings. She was the staff psychiatrist for the Washington Correctional
Center for Women for 4 years and was awarded Medical Support
Staff of the Year in 2004. Before moving to Washington, she
was in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Preceding her private
practice she
held the position of Psychiatric Fellow and then Assistant Professor
of Psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Her tenure
at Emory included providing psychiatric consultation and liaison
services to patients under the care of other hospital specialties,
(e.g. kidney, heart, liver and lung transplantation teams, cancer
treatment teams, intensive care units) as well as outpatient support
to medical clinics (e.g. chronic pain, rheumatology, gynecology,
endocrinology).
Dr. Farrington's educational background is varied
and extensive. She received her B.A. in Economics from the University
of Texas and then did graduate study at both Rice University and
the University of Houston. She earned her Doctorate in Medicine
at the University of Texas - Medical Branch and did her residency
in psychiatry at Duke University. She completed a fellowship in
consultation-liaison psychiatry at Emory University.
Dr. Farrington is a member of the American Psychiatric
Association and the Washington State Psychiatric Association.
